Family Self-Sufficiency Program

The Family Self-Sufficiency Program (FSS Program) is open to current Section 8 Housing Choice Voucher Holders. This program is designed to help you increase your independence. Program participants work with an experienced coordinator to establish their own goals and identify the necessary steps to reach those goals. Program support includes referrals to:

  • Child care
  • Personal & career counseling
  • Adult basic education
  • College & technical education
  • Job training
  • Homeownership
Participation in the FSS program is voluntary. Download a flyer for more information about the Family Self-Sufficiency Program.

As you make progress toward your goals, FSS participants may also benefit from making contributions to an interest-bearing escrow account. After you complete the program, you receive the balance of the escrow account, which you can put toward education, transportation, or a down payment on a house.
