On December 19, 2024, members of YouthBuild North Central West Virginia (NCWV) volunteered at the Mountaineer Food Bank to assist in distributing food to community members in need. This collaboration provided YouthBuild participants with an opportunity to engage in meaningful community service, reinforcing their commitment to leadership and civic responsibility.
The Mountaineer Food Bank, as the largest emergency food provider in West Virginia, serves families, children, seniors, veterans, and individuals at risk of hunger across 48 of the state’s 55 counties. By partnering with organizations like YouthBuild NCWV, the Food Bank can effectively reach and support those facing food insecurity. For more information, visit mountaineerfoodbank.org
YouthBuild NCWV participants, aged 16-24, are engaged in programs that combine educational advancement with vocational training and leadership development. Volunteering at the Food Bank allowed them to apply their skills in a real-world context, fostering a sense of community engagement and personal growth.
This event exemplifies YouthBuild NCWV’s dedication to empowering young adults through service-oriented experiences, while simultaneously supporting the vital efforts of the Mountaineer Food Bank in combating hunger throughout the region.
